Card Code Requirement

In order to protect itself from the use of stolen credit cards, Rhinestone Biz policies require that all customers using credit cards provide the 3-digit or 4-digit code on the card. Below is a brief Q&A that explains the details of the card code requirement:

Q: Does my bank require the security code?
A: From your bank's perspective the security code requirement is optional - all they require is the 16-digit card number to complete the transaction. The card code is verified as a courtesy to merchants wishing extra protection against fraudulent card use.

Q: What if my bank cannot provide verification?
A: Some cards are issued from accounts which are not capable of verifying the card code. These are mostly government accounts for use with Social Security checks, alimony or child support payments or State disability accounts. If you try to use a debit card linked to one of these accounts, the transaction will fail, but your account will be debited.

Q: What happens if I get the security code wrong?
A:  If you attempt to complete a transaction with an incorrect card code and the 16-digits are correct your bank will consider this a valid transaction, but Rhinestone Biz will not. Your bank will have 'authorized' those funds for eventual 'settlement' once the transaction is complete.

Q: Is it possible that the failed transaction causes my account to reach its credit limit?
A: Unfortunately this may happen since the funds are now reserved in your account and are unavailable for use until they are refunded.

Q: If there is no transaction, what happens at settlement?
A: In the case of a failed transaction the settlement consists of returning the funds to your bank account or your available credit.

Q: Can I call my bank to have them release the funds?
A: We have never found any bank that will release the funds early. In most cases, your bank's customer service agent has no way of knowing that the transaction failed.

Q: How long does it take to settle the failed transaction?
A: All failed transactions are settled at 12:00 noon Central Time.

Q: When will I get my money back?
A: Unfortunately, Rhinestone Biz has no control over your bank's policies regarding the timing of the refund. In most cases your bank will return the funds to your account in 2-3 business days. In some cases they will be available the following day.
